What's the best way to cook a Bison Flat Iron?

It's important to take care while cooking bison steaks, as they are very lean. Your favorite cooking method of other steaks (grilling, stove-top, etc.) should work just as well with bison, however you will likely want to lower the heat and adjust the cooking time. We recommend not cooking bison steaks past medium doneness, leaving some pink. If you cook your steak too quickly or too well-done, it will become tough and chewy. As long as you cook it to medium doneness (or less), you will be left with an amazingly tender, delicious steak!

What's the best way to season a bison steak?

Your favorite seasoning blend will work great on our Bison Flat Iron Steaks. However, we suggest using only a small amount of salt on any bison steak. We offer a Bison Steak & Burger Seasoning blend which we had developed specifically to complement our bison as well. We also find that Garlic, Pepper and Rosemary makes a great seasoning blend for bison steaks.

How will this meat arrive?

We package our bison steaks individually and vacuum sealed. The Flat Iron Steak is then placed in a carton with 4 steaks per box.

<p">We then place the carton of Flat Irons (and any other items you order) in a cooler with dry ice to ensure that it stays frozen and cold during shipping. Even if your meat does not arrive still completely frozen (although most of the time it will), as long as it arrive cold to the touch, it is completely safe to re-freeze and cook.

    Yes, the flat iron steaks are great on the grill. The best thing to do is to cook them low and slow. So moving them a bit farther away from the heat source, or using a lower temperature will be good.
