There are only TWO Flank Steaks available in each bison, making the Bison Flank Steak a rare treat. This particular steak also just so happens to be Randy’s (our owner) favorite cut!

The flank is a great steak for using in fajitas, salads and stir frys.

The 16 oz. Bison Flank Steak is best prepared with marinades or spice rubs, so you can really do a lot with your meals when you cook with the flank. While delicious served from the grill with sides of veggies, this large Bison Flank Steak is also a great choice if you are looking for a steak to use in stir fry, fajitas, wraps or other dishes!

What does Bison Steak Taste like?

Bison steak is tender and flavorful. It has a rich and slightly sweet taste, and although similar to beef, it is often described as a "cleaner" or "lighter" taste. Bison steaks have a deep red color -- and a lot less marbling! Our responsibly ranch raised philosophy and the freedom of our animals to graze and roam around the ranch, ensures that our meat is of exceptional quality in taste, tenderness and appearance.

What's the best way to cook Bison Flank Steak?

It's important to take care while cooking bison steaks, as they are very lean. Your favorite cooking method for other steaks (whether it's on the grill, stove-top or another way) should work just as well with bison, however you will probably want to lower the heat and adjust the cooking time.

We recommend not cooking bison steaks past medium doneness, leaving some pink in the meat. If you cook your steak too quickly or too well-done, it will become tough and chewy. If you cook it properly and to medium doneness (or less), you will be left with an amazingly tender, delicious steak!

What's the best way to season a bison steak?

We think marinades work great with the Bison Flank Steak. We even offer the recipe for Jane's Flank Steak marinade on our site. However, if you're not looking to marinade it, your favorite seasoning blend will work great on our Bison steaks. However, we suggest using only a small amount of salt. We offer a Bison Steak & Burger Seasoning with Sea Salt blend which we had developed specifically to complement our bison as well. We also love using a Garlic, Pepper and Rosemary blend which works great on these steaks.

How will this meat arrive?

We package our bison steaks individually and vacuum sealed. The Flank Steaks are then placed in a carton with 4 steaks per box.

We then place the carton of bison steaks (and any other items you order) in a cooler with dry ice to ensure that it stays frozen and cold during shipping. Even if your meat does not arrive still completely frozen (although most of the time it will), as long as it arrive cold to the touch, it is completely safe to re-freeze and cook.
