What does Bison Steak Taste like?

Bison has a rich, clean and slightly sweet flavor. You'll notice a difference from your first bite! You'll notice that bison steaks have a deep red color -- and a lot less marbling! What's the best way to cook Bison Steaks?

It's important to take care while cooking bison steaks, as they are very lean. Your favorite cooking method for other steaks (grilling, stove-top, etc.) should work just as well with bison, however you will likely want to lower the heat and adjust the cooking time. Since the Bison Filet Mignon is incredibly lean, you'll want to take extra care when cooking, to ensure you are not cooking too well done or too fast.

We recommend not cooking bison steaks past medium doneness, leaving some pink in the center. If you cook your steak too quickly or too well-done, it will become tough and chewy. As long as you cook it to medium doneness (or less), you will be left with an amazingly tender, delicious steak!

What's the best seasoning for bison burgers?

We suggest not using as much seasoning as you would on other burgers, when cooking with bison. It's really best to let the flavor of the bison shine, and again, you don't want to dry out this lean meat, so we recommend using just enough to enhance the flavor.

You can use your favorite seasoning blends. Or, we also offer an exclusive steak & burger seasoning which was developed especially for complementing our bison meat. How will these steaks arrive?

We package our bison steaks individually and vacuum sealed. The NY Strips and Filet Mignon are then placed in cartons with 4 steaks per box.

We then place the carton of bison steaks (and any other items you order) in a cooler with dry ice to ensure that it stays frozen and cold during shipping. Even if your meat does not arrive still completely frozen (although most of the time it will), as long as it arrive cold to the touch, it is completely safe to re-freeze and cook.
