What does Bison Taste like?

Bison is incredibly tender and flavorful. It has a rich and slightly sweet taste, and although similar to beef, it can be described as a "cleaner" or "lighter" taste. Bison meat has a deep red color -- and a lot less marbling and fat! Our responsibly ranch raised philosophy and the freedom of our animals to graze and roam around the ranch, ensures that our meat is of exceptional quality in taste, tenderness and appearance.

 

What's the difference between the Chuck and the Rump Roast?

The bison chuck roast is going to have just a little more visible fat than the rump roast, so while it might be slightly more flavorful or tender, you'll also probably notice a little more shrinkage during cooking than with the rump roast.

 

What's the best way to cook a Bison Roast?

It's important to take care while cooking bison, as it is very lean. With a bison roast, a low and slow method with moist heat will ensure you end up with amazingly tender meat! Cook it in a slow cooker or a roasting pan for best results. You may even want to sear the sides before cooking for an even crisper taste!

 

How will this meat arrive?

Like all of our meats, our bison roasts are vacuum sealed to lock-in freshness. Each roast is then placed in a carton to protect it during storage and transit.

We then place the carton holding your bison roast (and any other items you order) in a cooler with dry ice to ensure that it stays frozen and cold during shipping. Even if your meat does not arrive still completely frozen (although most of the time it will), as long as it arrive cold to the touch, it is completely safe to re-freeze and cook.
