What does Bison Steak Taste like?
Bison has a rich, clean and slightly sweet flavor. You'll notice a difference from your first bite! You'll see that bison steaks have a deep red color -- and a lot less marbling than beef! Our responsibly ranch raised promise and the freedom our animals have to graze and roam freely, ensures that our meat is of superior quality which you will notice in taste and appearance.
What's the best way to cook Bison Steak?
Bison steaks are very lean so you'll want to take care when cooking. Your favorite method of cooking other steaks (grilling, stove-top, etc.) will work just as well with bison, however you'll likely want to lower the heat and adjust the cooking time accordingly.
We recommend not cooking bison steaks past medium doneness, leaving pink in the center. If you cook your steak too quickly or too well-done, it will become tough and chewy. As long as you cook it to medium doneness (or less), you will be left with an amazingly tender, delicious steak!
What's the best way to season a bison steak?
Your favorite seasoning blend will work great on our Bison Filet Mignon. However, we suggest using only a small amount of salt on our steaks. We offer a Bison Steak & Burger Seasoning blend which we had developed specifically to complement or bison as well. We also find that Garlic, Pepper and Rosemary makes a great seasoning blend for bison steaks.
How will this meat arrive?
We package our bison steaks individually, vacuum sealed. The sealed steaks are then placed in cartons of 4 steaks per box.
We'll place the 8 cartons of bison steaks (and any other items you order) in a styrofoam cooler with dry ice to ensure that it stays frozen and cold during transit. Even if your meat does not arrive completely frozen (although most of the time it will), as long as it arrive cold to the touch, it is completely safe to re-freeze and cook.
